Rock to Recovery Interview July 2021
Rock to Recovery interviewed and wrote a chapter on Robert for their recent inspirational book on the power of music in recovery.Tens of thousands of Americans die from substance abuse and suicide each year. Millions more suffer from mental health disorders. Rock to Recovery -- an innovative, therapeutic music program serving more than one hundred addiction treatment and mental health facilities in the USA -- steps into the breach to offer participants help and hope. By writing, playing, and recording music as a group, non-musicians are able to build a community of support, find enthusiasm for treatment, and realize that recovery is possible. Veterans, trauma survivors, and those struggling with substance abuse or mental health issues can recover with connection.

The last stop of the book tour (before 2020 COVID shutdowns) was back where it started at Buckley AFB, CO, speaking with appr 100 members of the 460th Space Wing, Dec 2019

Operation Mend BOA New York Nov 2019
In Nov 2019, I was invited to New York to attend Operation Mend’s (501c) Board of Advisors Inaugural meeting, along with joining them for the weekend's festivities to include the annual NY Veteran’s Day parade, kicked off by the President. The board included a select group of entrepreneurs, celebrities, medical and military leadership.
Elizabeth Dole Foundation Convening and Gala in
Washington DC Oct 2019
In Oct 2019, we were invited to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation Convening and Gala in Washington DC. I was blessed to meet and speak with Sen Dole throughout the week, and she was kind enough to invite us over multiple times for dinner ( I am quite certain the invite was mostly for Jefe’, as Sen Dole just couldn’t get enough of this doodle!) We were also fortunate enough to meet with many business, military, and political leadership, to include the honor of meeting with Congressman and Army Veteran Brian Mast of FL.

30 OSS of Vandenberg AFB at La Purisima State Park, CA, Sep 2019
60th Medical Group at Travis AFB, CA, Sep 2019
In Sep 2019, I was invited out to California to speak with about 100 Airmen of the 30th Operations Support Squadron at Vandenberg AFB. We took this trip as Ambassadors of the AF Wounded Warrior program in support of the CSAFs Tactical Pause Day. The unit amazingly hosted us at La Purisima Mission State Park...outdoors, out of uniform, and with a complete focus on mental health awareness and resiliency.
The journey ended with a road trip north, being invited to speak with members of the 60th Medical Group at Travis AFB. This setting was completely different, as this unit is in charge of all surgical operations in the region and cannot shut down. Between 300 and 400 Airmen honored us with their time, many having to cycle in/out after surgery or on their way to scrub in.

Mt Carmel invited me to join this wonderful program and share some details on "Perspectives of Hope", as well as some positive changes in my personal life that may help other Veterans with PTSD and TBI. Joined by Col Bob McLaughlin, (ret) USA, COO Mt Carmel Veteran Service Center

ARPC HQ, Buckley AFB, CO, Sep 2019
On September 6th, I was honored to speak to 450 service members of the Air Force Reserve Personnel Command Headquarters, Buckley AFB, CO, Sep 2019. We received this invite from Command Chief Billie Baber after she read and enjoyed "Perspectives of Hope". I don’t think there is a proper way to explain how incredible it was to have this work come together and be welcomed so wholeheartedly!
